A quick blogging for business tip

When it comes to blogging for business, one of the biggest problems people have is knowing what to write about. At the recent Social Media Insight Day I spoke at I came up with a few exercises to get the creative juices flowing, and everyone found them really useful. (There’s another one coming up in October if you’re interested – details here.)

Obviously I’m not going to give them away here – because I want you all to come to the next workshop! – but I thought you might like a bit of a nudge in the right direction. So here is my top tip for coming up with blog posts:

Think about the questions your clients and potential clients ask you.

We all get asked things all the time – Why should I use your services? How much does it cost? How long will it take? How can I benefit from …? Do you have it in red?

Each one of those questions forms the basis for a blog post – and because you already know people are asking the questions, you’re know you’ve already got an audience. So next time you have a meeting with a new client, or the phone rings and there’s a prospective customer on the other end, make a note of the questions they ask – and then turn those questions into blog posts!
