Proofreading and Copy Editing

Kindle Formatting
Kindle is the most popular format for ebooks – out of every 10 ebooks sold 8 are for the Kindle ereaders or the many Kindle apps that are available. However, formatting for Kindle is not as simple as uploading a Word file. There are all sorts of issues that need to be addressed to ensure your book displays properly on every device. My Kindle formatting process ensures your paragraphs, headers, images etc. all display correctly and your book will have a working table of contents, embedded cover artwork and a properly formatted NCX file. (This is the “tool” that enables you to flip between chapters quickly; it’s also the coding necessary to display those little “ticks” along the bottom of the Kindle screen that show you where the chapters are. It’s often missing from books that haven’t been properly formatted.)

While ebooks are quite limited in the fonts and layouts they can use, print books let you run away with your imagination, using unusual fonts, images, unusual word layouts and so on. Whether you want a traditional layout or something more customised, I can help you design the book of your dreams.

Book Cover Design
The cover of your book is your biggest marketing opportunity and not something you should neglect. So many self-published authors DIY their covers – and it shows. I work with specialist book cover designers to develop a cover that is relevant to your book, stands out AND looks good at thumbnail size. When you order a cover you will get not just one but three different versions, so you can choose the one that works best for you.
